The Human Resources Committee conducted a National Palliative Medicine Survey in November/December 2014, in collaboration with the CMA, the Royal College, the CFPC, and TVN. The results were released at the Annual Learning in Palliative Medicine Conference in Calgary on May 28, 2015. The survey reports are posted on the Reports and Publications page of our web site.
Dr. Stephanie Connidis represented the CSPCP at the National Physician Employment Summit and the May 2016 National Special Societies Resources for Health Dialogue.
Our next goal is to develop a Palliative Medicine Workforce Plan for Canada in collaboration with our partners. We have applied for funding to support this work. Concurrently, we are checking to see what work is being done by other organizations regarding physician resource planning.
We anticipate issuing a call for committee members in late 2016 or early 2017. In the meantime, if you are interested in helping please contact CSPCP Executive Director Kim Taylor: email@example.com
Update November 2017
We have not found funding for the Workforce Plan. In the meantime, we formed a Staffing Model Working Group to begin working on a plan.
