Dr. Ina Cummings (Mar 20, 2018)
The CSPCP mourns the loss of one of Canada’s pioneers in palliative care. Dr. Cummings was a founding member of the CSPCP and one its past Presidents. She was honoured with a CSPCP Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016 in recognition for her sustained and lasting contribution to palliative medicine and to the CSPCP. Dr. Cummings was a leader in palliative care since its very early days in Canada. She inspired many palliative physicians with her vision of whole person care and palliative medicine within the interdisciplinary team.
Dr. Cummings died peacefully on March 20, 2018 at the West Island Palliative Care Residence – a facility that she helped to create and shape. See their heartfelt press releasefor a further tribute to Dr. Cummings.
Dr. David Abriel (Feb 2, 2017)
It is with great sadness that we share with you the sudden death of our friend and colleague Dave Abriel and his wife Heather in a car accident Feb. 2.
All that knew Dave will always remember this gentle giant as a passionate caring man who did his best to improve the lives of others. He and Heather will be greatly missed.
This photo is from a news paper clip showing Dave in his “Father Christmas” garb brightening the lives of families along the south shore of Nova Scotia.
