The credentialing phase for the first CAC in palliative care, in which those members who had obtained added competence prior to 2015 were recognized, has ended. It was a one-time opportunity that closed in November 2015.
At this time, the only way to obtain a CAC in palliative care is through the successful completion of an accredited enhanced skills residency program.
The CFPC is currently working on outlining the requirements and application and assessment processes for the practice eligible route for CACs. We expect to have more concrete details about this new route available by the middle of 2017. All updates will be posted on the CFPC website as they become available.
